SMPTD is a great SMPT Daemon for Windows.
The SMTPD puts the incoming files into a single files that
is in text format. You may use any text-based editor to read it.
However, if you'd like to read it in with a better tool, it is possible.
I am using Trumpet News Reader For Windows, WinSocket Version 1.0.
( The Trumpet has good e-mail send/read capability.)
Setup steps:
Suppose you install the Trumpet stuff in C:\NEWS
1. Trumpet will create a file, MAIL0000.MFL in C:\NEWS after setup.
The first lineof this file is "\Title Incoming Mail".
2. Redirect SMTPD's mailbox to this file, from SMTPD's window.
3. Send yourself several e-mail and use Trumpet to read your mail.
Trumpet can setup the SMPT host to be your PC, so you can test
both SMTPD and Trumpt's send mail on the same machine.
Minimize the News Reader Window will show you the Mail Window.
Or select Mail from "Window Menu".
4. You switch to mail window of Trumpet and click on Incoming Mail
Folder. You will see a list of new mails.
5. If you you got nothing in Incoming Mail Folder, but the
SMPTD's window does show something coming in. Then
you have to remove an empty line (the 2nd line ) in C:\NEWS\MAIL0000.MFL
by using text editor.
You mighe find there is a MAIL000.MFB, don't worry about this backup file.
6. You may use other e-mail tools, but I found Trumpet is the best one for me.
Trumpet News Reader Winsocket V1.0B can be found in ftp.utas.edu.au
pc/trumpet/wintrump ...
